    Garon's AI in Birthright is utterly broken

    And by broken I mean nonfunctional.

    Let me explain. In Birthright's endgame, Garon is programmed differently from your average unit, or even most moving bosses. His AI seems to be made to go through three "phases" of sorts:

    1. Stay put until turn 4. He won't even attack any units that are in his movement/attack range at this point.

    2. Activate all Dragon Veins. He'll activate certain ones on predetermined turns in the same order each time. Again, he won't initiate combat in this phase.

    3. Regular boss mode. Once he's activated all of them, he'll act like your standard unit; he'll stay in put until someone enters his range, then he moves in to attack anyone who is in range.

    But something strange happens during phase 1. If you put any player unit within 2 spaces of him—not even attack him, just put someone in 2 spaces of him—for some inexplicable reason, his AI completely breaks down. The AI will have no idea what to do, and straight up won't enter phase 2 or 3. He'll start moving to you... but he won't attack. At all. Even a super-squishy unit like a 7 defense Felicia? No attacks, at least not on his phase.

    What's extra strange about this is it won't happen if you do the same during phase 2—it only happens during phase 1. Triggering it also makes every other enemy start moving for some reason. So either it's an oversight, they planned to implement something but didn't go fully through with it, or something else entirely. Either way, Garon's wack.

    Today is February 4th 2020. This date has significance, as it marks the 7th anniversary of Fire Emblem Awakening being released in North America! Happy Birthday Robin!

    Heh, I'm reminded of the B support conversation between Male Robin and Tiki, where she compared him to Marth, noting their similarities, with Robin getting a little embarrassed at being compared to such a legendary figure, and I kept thinking to myself:

    "Don't worry buddy. Marth may have started the Fire Emblem Franchise, but you're the one who saved it from dying."
