Everyone Plays Fire Emblem - Week of February 26th, 2021 Posted: 26 Feb 2021 02:42 PM PST Welcome to the next installment of EPFE! This is a casual space for discussing any ongoing Fire Emblem (or related games) playthroughs. Screenshots, impressions, frustrations... gameplay stuff that would otherwise be removed as a standalone post under Rule 8 can be shared here. While you can of course ask for advice here, specific questions might get better responses in the General Question Thread here. As always, remember to tag your spoilers, and have fun! Last week's thread can be found here. submitted by /u/Cecilyn [link] [comments] |

Revelation Redux Tier List Resubs Round: Reina, Gunter, Felicia 1 and Selena Posted: 26 Feb 2021 04:06 PM PST Welcome to Resubs Round: This round will last about 24 hours in between each other. Rate the units in each tier, and give Clear Explanations why. Feel free to comment on each other and discuss why you agree or disagree. Be polite, and remember, this is all in good fun. After the 24 hours, I will review all the answers and understand what the consensus reached has been, posting the result in the next round. If there is no clear majority, a tally will be made. If a tie ensues, well the round will be extended until a tiebreaker comment appears. At the very end, a hub finalized tier list will be created, with links to each and every one of these rounds, providing full analyses for Revelation units as well as a good solid tier list for the community. They might fill a niche, even if its not useful, and they can perform decently if given the investment. Includes: Felicia 1, Subaki, Hinata, Kaden, Keaton, Selena, Setsuna, Flora Iffy Performance: D Not all that useful, with possible major detriments holding them back. They do not fill any required niches and take more investing than most to perform adequately or not all that solidly. Includes: Rinkah, Elise, Charlotte, Jakob 2, Felicia 2, Scarlet, Niles At this point, units are no longer recommended by the list. Lame Performance: E They absolutely suck. Do to how Revelation works literally anyone is workable. They do not fill any required niches and take far more investing than most to perform adequately or not all that solidly, or just piss poor. Includes: Mozu, Hana, Benny, Arthur, Azama Meme Performance: F Rank *Hahahaha... man. These guys don't perform worth a damn. They offer nothing that others can't do better, and getting them to the point where they can start contributing requires a mountain of time, resources, and luck. Bottom of the barrel. One part of the 3 Houses Class System I hope returns. Posted: 26 Feb 2021 10:22 AM PST While I like 3 Houses letting you create any unit to any class, it was excessive. My favorite part, the part that I would like to see come back is the ease of reclassing into previous classes. Having the option to swap my Unit's classes as needed was fun to do and made each unit feel flexible and able to hold mutiple roles, even if they weren't the most optimal. When I needed more physical bulk I'd reclass Caspar into an from a Warrior back into a Armor Knight. When the map was hard for foot units to travel I had Felix go from SwordMaster to Wyvern Rider. Having the ability to have a class in the back pocket without heavy commitment was nice to have, after the battle was done I could swap back to my units class plan. submitted by /u/Dannyson97 [link] [comments] |

What makes them broken? Wyvern rider - Wyvern lord Posted: 26 Feb 2021 01:11 AM PST | Sometime you've just gotta jump on a dragon to let people know how badass you are Hello and welcome back to: What makes them broken? Today, we'll be looking at what I consider to be the most powerful classline in the series, te wyvern class. Now, this class was always made for the most powerful characters in the game as far back as FE1 and it hasn't stopped being strong even in later games. Some of the most powerful nations in the series are only so strong because they have access to wyverns, so imagine how good they'd be in a players hands. Well, you don't have to as today I'll be covering the dracoknight, wyvern rider, griffon rider and wyvern lord classlines. Now, Fire Emblem games are usually easy enough to allow you to use anyone you like, but when discussing what the best classes are we need to look at who makes the game the easiest and why that is. This analysis assumes the hardest difficulties, no grinding and fast play. Analyzing their viability through the games FE2 and Echoes: SoV - None of these classes are playable in these games
FE1 - Technically we should count every pegasus knight as they all promote into dracoknight. However, as I've alreay covered the pegasus knights, let's focus on our prepromote, Minerva. Simply, Minerva is broken. She is a 10 movement flying death machine that will just kill everything if she gets the speed ring. Her only real flaw is her low skill which can cause some hit rate problems, especially against bosses, but for the most part Minerva is an excellent unit.
FE3 - Pegasus knights are still quite good and even Minerva got boosts to some of her stats. Dracoknights do suffer in this game because they are forcefuly dismounted in indoor chapters, but luckely the ladyblade make Minerva a fairly decent combat unit even in those chapters. Not their best game, but far from bad.
FE4 - Altena is our only wyvern rider in this game and she sadly isn't that great. She has great attack and flight and great weapon ranks and great physical bulk, but those don't make up for her faults. She's can't pick up terrai bonuses which are really strong in FE4, she+s the last unit that joins in FE4 gen 2, she cannot keep up with your horse units due to not getting movement bonuses from roads and she as low res when the game starts throwing a lot of magic users and a lot of bow users as well. She can clear the arena easely enough and can kill most generic enemies with ease, but most good units in FE4 can do the same. She is also bad against every other holy weapon user: Julius, Julius' dad, Julius' GF and Julius' GF's pegasus knights also wreck her, along with Arion and all the dread lords. She also cannot benefit a lot from transfers as Quan leaves at the end of chapter 3 so you're basically sabotaging a lot of your other units in order to make Altena slightly better. She isn't terrible or anything, but she is definetely one of the weaker wyvern riders in the game.
FE5 - Wyvern riders are hampered by forced dismounting indoors, large number of siege tomes and ballistas and are overall inferior to staff users, but they're still worth looking at. Eda is fine, B rank in lances is nice and D rank in swords isn't that terrible, along with 9 movement + flight in outdoor maps, but she's bad at capturing because of her poor build, hurt by thing already mentioned above and she takes quite a notable amount of resources to become a good combat unit and it's not like it's that important anyway. However, we also have Deen, who is just ridiculous. He has stupid good bases on top of having stupid good weapon ranks, having a FCM of 3 on top of having decent growths for FE5 standards. Once he joins he's pretty much your best unit in outdoor maps, besides your warp users and he can even get his stupid personal lance if you want to make him even better (this is pretty hard to get though). He also has reliable support partners in Eda for outdoor maps and Linoan for indoor maps. Heck, he isn't even bad in indoor maps due to his stupid bases and A rank in swords. Now, Deen does still suffer somewhat as a wyvern rider, but even with all of those flaws he's still a great unit, if it weren't for the things I mentioned at the start and his somewhat lacking availability he'd be one of the best units in the game.
FE6 - We have Melady and everyone knows how broken she is. I think people overrate her a bit, but evenso she's pretty amazing, along with providing rescue and flight utility which are really good in FE6. She is probably the best unit in FE6. Her brother, Zeiss isn't nearely as impressive, but he's passable overall. Pretty great game for them
FE7 - Hot take: Heath is excellent, you're all just bad. Like, sure he doesn't start as an absolute killing machine at base, but with some minimal investment he becomes a flying god of death. Unlike the pegasus sister trio Heath has good enough strength and bulk (arrows only deal *2 damage in this game) to not have to worry on EP and can one round fairly consistently. DonDon showcased how good he is in a setting without growths and people still undersell him (looking at you Mekkah). There's also Vaida who exists if you dislike thinking and isntead just want to put her in enemy range and see a everything die, but people often undersell her a lot too compared to Harken for whatever reason (Mekkah, how did you appear here twice?). Anyway, great game for them overall, but you can't really go wrong with flyer in GBA FE.
FE8 - Only one representative this time wih Cormag, but he's luckely pretty good. He doesn't double most enemies at base and he even has some trouble doubling even with an early promotion, so he appreciates a speedwing. Besides that he's really good if you're playing lightnig fast as he comes with solid bases and will be you best flyer along with a trained Vanessa. Also, pegasus knights can also promote to wyvern lords in this game for whatever reason and pierce is just an incredebly silly skill.
FE9 - Jill comes a bit late with somewhat shaky bases, but thanks to BEXP she can snowball quickly and just break the game along with Marcia. Sure, she requires investment, but she makes such good use of said investment that it's optimal to save a bunch of resources for her. Haar is good, but joins a bit late with somewhat shaky bases. He will still double most enemies, but he definetely won't be as good as Jill or Marcia without a notable amount of investment, though he is a pretty great support partner for Jill.
FE10 - Wyverns aren't weak to arrows in this game. Yep, instead they're weak to thunder magic which is so rare and so bad that they might as well not have any waknesses. Because of this Haar and Jill are the best units in the game, no competition. Jill makes the best use of the resources in the DB chapters and can just invalidate those chapter while Haar is just braindead, a brain is not required in order to achieve success with Haar in RD. It's just an amazing game for them, it's kind of ridiculous.
FE11 - So reclassing allows a whole plethora of units to access the dracoknight classline, but it's actually prety balancedin this game because of high enemy stats and- NAH, I'm kidding they're broken in this game too. Their only flaw is their low speed cap of 23, but they're still gonna double a lot of enemies and you can use a forged ridersbane to one shot kill most enemies in SD. I really want to know what the devs were thinking when they decided to allow you to put Jagen on a fricking dragon.
FE12 - So, they actually aren't that broken in tis game, but they're still really good. A lot of New Mystery enemies have high speed, so after the midgame even capped speed wyvern riders aren't gonna double and are instead gonna get doubled. Despite all of this they're still an amazing class with 10 unrestricted movement and can even contribute in the lategame with forged brave axes and lances, an excellent game for them.
Awakening - Once again they're pretty great. If you wanna extend the usability of your cavalier, paladin or great knight look no firther than a second seal to get them to become a wyvern. Wyvern rider is as usuall petty strong, but grifon rider is really good too because of Deliverer which gives +2 move upon pair up because balance. Honestly if sorcerer and dark flyer weren't such obviously good ptions for Robin I could see them going wyvern rider as their default class. Even Chereche's shaky bases are a minor gripe as you give her a hammer and have a flying death machine soon afterwards.
Fates - IS in all their brilliance figured that wyverns needed a buff, so they gave them access to rally defense just so you know how stupidly good they are. Heck, even Xander wants to switch to wyvern lord for a few chapters, yep this class is soo good in CQ that Xander is ready to give up his stupid self buffing infinite 1-2 range sword. Now, wyverns do actually have some weaknesses in this game as bow users hit strongly and accurately, along with wyverns being weak to wyrmslayers which is notable when fighting the heroes in the Hans & Iago chapter, along with air superiority being a thorn in their side and a 29 speed cap not doing them any favours. Really, really good, but have some things stooping them from going too nuts.
- Malig knight is just a way better dark flyer besides not having galeforce. Trample and Savage blow are just stupid tier skills and pretty much all of your magic users want to get in this class. However, a lot of the weak nesses I mentioned about wyvern lords also apply to malig knight as well as their 27 speed cap being quite problematic, but they aren't as alergic to magic. Pretty fantastic, but with some weaknesses.
3 Houses - Do I even need to talk about them? Dismounting basically makes their weakness to arrows irrelevant and their speed isn't even that low. Wyvern lord also gives a +15% growth boost to strenght for some reason while their class mastery skill is alert stance which is just a stupid skill and wyverns are also allowed to have axefaire. The only thing holding them back is the lack of high number of great flying battalions and a harder time getting adjutants They also rquire high ranks in things like flying and axes so you need to wait some time to get them, but once you do you've pretty much won the game. I really wonder what drugs the devs were on when designing wyvern lord as I want some.
What makes them broken? Like I said multiple times in this series movement is the most important stat and wyverns are usually among the highest movement classes in the game aloong with having flight which is also incredebly powerful. However, wyvern riders aren't like pegasus knights that usually come with low bases, strength and durability, nope wyvern are flying tanks that specialise in strength and defense, while usually lower stats like resistance or speed are perfectly workable overall. As if all of that wasn't enough they often get access to very good skills and somehow always have access to the best weapon types for each game. Like I said at the start, I consider this class to be the most powerful one in the entire Fire Emblem series How do we nerf them? Besides all the ways to nerf flyers I already covered another way to nerf them would be to probably not give them some of the best stats and skills in the entire game. However, IS wants them to be the strongest class, so let's work with that. You don't get any wyverns until the halfpoint of the game and still have a decent amount of magic aircalibur users, siege tomes, status staves as well as bow users so that they can't go completely nuts. Also, remove the ability to reclass into these classes. I know "muh customizability", but this class has been described as incredebly hard to get into by the lore and that's why litteraly everyone doesn't get into it. Of course someone weak like Amelia couldn't handle the training necessary to become a wyvern rider, it's what makes them special, well until the recent games, if you wanna keep reclassing just do what I suggested.
