I know nobody cares about Fates anymore, but I'm still a little salty about how we never got the Hoshidan or Nohrian Festival of Bonds DLCs (outside of Japan, I mean).

    Share your headcanons!

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 05:28 PM PDT

Just as the title says, let's share headcanons! Remember to be respectful to others and have fun!

Today, I wanna focus on minor bosses and NPCs - one headcanon for each game! (except Thracia and Radiant Dawn 'cause I haven't played much of either of them)

    • Shadow Dragon: Orrydion was Macedon's most esteemed cavalier, who was specifically requested by King Osmond to teach Michalis the basics of combat - finding him to excel with the lance, much like his instructor. The two form a close relationship, with Orrydion swearing to serve the prince before the king. However, as Michalis grew older, he grew colder to his mentor, though he trusted in his combat prowess. Orrydion would serve as the new king's most loyal of vassals, nonetheless.
    • Gaiden/Shadows of Valentia: Others have suggested it before, but Shizas from Gaiden still exists in Shadows of Valentia, he was just relieved of his duty at the Rigel border by Berkut, sparing his life. This actually gets kinda meta considering that Shizas has unused data in the remake. And since that wasn't original to me, I'll do another - either Cerberus or Naberius is Silque's father. Though she never met him, their connection grants her the ability to make illusions in his likeness.
    • Mystery of the Emblem: Yodel was part of a promising trio of mages trained in Khadein - while Merric focused on wind magic and Arlen trained in thunder magic, Yodel strived to master fire magic, mastering the Bolganone tome. However, his temperament failed to show promise to Archbishop Wendell, as he was never very assertive and tended to follow some of the troublemakers in the school of sorcery despite his better judgment. When Wendel only took two pupils, Yodel only became more reserved as he focused on growing stronger as a mage, following his friend Arlen's every order, in hopes of being acknowledged by his master one day.
    • Genealogy of the Holy War: Ovo was a promising young member of the Gelb Ritter serving under General Reinhardt, but upon starting a petty duel against General Muhammad (of which he always argues was started by Muhammad) during a military examination, the two were punished and exclusively tasked with patrol throughout Connaught Castletown. The people of Connaught were baffled by how effective the pair were in keeping the peace, fueled by their rivalry, and were soon promoted to the Dual Generals of Connaught. Ovo is competitive to a fault but is very hard on himself, refusing to accept rewards he feels he is undeserving. As such, he still uses the Elthunder tome he had under Reinhardt, despite most mage knight generals being given a Thoron tome as a mark of power. And in case it needs to be said, of course Illios sees him as a rival, as he does with most mage knights, but especially as Ovo is not of the nobility either.
    • Binding Blade: Roberts (the one boss from 11A that most people never see) was primarily tasked by Arcardo to patrol the Western Isles in search of the Resistance and runaway slaves. The reason he takes so long to arrive in 11A is that he's dealing with Bartre and the runaways around Eidyna Castle. Basically, he speedruns Chapter 11B since Roy's army is elsewhere, and then has to ride to the north when word of resistance comes from Orlo. This is somewhat implied in-game, as Roberts has a single line of dialogue in Chapter 11B with Arcardo and Morgan.
    • Blazing Blade: Aion is the older brother of Teodor. They were trained in magic together, but their teacher was scorned for teaching magic to commoners and fled from Bern. The brothers joined the Black Fang in hopes to hone their magic while making a world where the common folk have more opportunities. They were always assigned to the same missions, mostly because the younger brother was great at making a mess of things, and Aion would need to bail him out. At some point, Teodor traveled in search of his missing mentor, and instead found Nergal, who taught the mage the dark arts. Through Teodor, Nergal learned of the Black Fang and began prodding for questions regarding the organization to get an idea of how he could use them for his own benefit.
    • Sacred Stones: McCartney was supposed to be a playable character, but they thought three axe units would be too much by Chapter 5 and he looked generic enough for an enemy.
    • Path of Radiance: I'm sure has been suggested before, but Homasa is Stefan's younger brother. In fact, Homasa was the name Stefan was supposed to carry, until his parents saw his Brand. They rejected him, and the people of the desert village named him Stefan (or in Japanese, Soanvalke, recognizing his brand as a sign of the Lion Soan). Homasa was born to replace Stefan, and curiously enough, he also favored swordplay. And with Homasa having absolute loyalty to a Branded without him knowing - now that's some spice.
    • Awakening: Ignatius was raised in Valm Harbor to work on his father's merchant ship. But after encountering a corrupted priest trying some scummy stuff and giving him what's what, he was imprisoned for murder. With a fortunate opportunity for escape after three years, he made for the sea, climbing the ranks from a common pirate to a captain sometimes called "The Return of the Pirate King". As his age began to show, he left his crew in capable hands and retired to the harbor he grew up in, now too old to be recognized. When word of Walhardt's ideals - the destruction of religion and reliance on the power of man to unify the world, Ignatius felt obliged to return to the sea under a new banner, with Walhardt gladly using the strength of a famous pirate to control the seas surrounding Valm.
    • Fates: Nichol was the son of a blacksmith in a small mountain town, and he trained every day to match the strength of his idol and hometown hero - The Shield of Nohr, Gunter. Once he was of age to serve in the military, however, life took a sudden shift. The training became much more taxing, and he experienced his first battle with little proper preparedness. That first battle, watching his comrades die - including friends who joined alongside him - mentally scarred him, and when he had his back against the wall, he experienced the desperate struggle of fighting for your life. As the years went on, and more and more allies died, Nichol would close his heart, only really caring for his family back home and his wyvern. When word of his village being suddenly destroyed, with a rumored onnection to the man he looked up to, he went berserk, killing his commanding officer, and soon running away from everything. He became truly apathetic, doing whatever it took to survive. His strength attracted small-time bandits, and thus he began a life as a highwayman.
    • Three Houses: The von Ochs family carried the Crest of Macuil. However, it came from the deceased Baroness von Ochs's side of the family, leaving Monica as the only known bearer of the crest. Hence, those who slither in the dark abducted her for her blood, as is done with Flayn.

    Unpopular fire emblem opinions?

Personally, I don't think the fates games are that bad, theyre fun and the story isn't good, but it's still fun.

Do you think every future game will have a turn rewind mechanic?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 04:15 PM PDT

Shadows of Valentia had the Turnwheel and Three Houses had Divine Pulse.

Do you think that's the future of Fire Emblem?
I think future games will have a similar mechanic (preferably balanced out) with a difficulty mode that the mechanic is designed for

Also how would you balance out such a mechanic?

    Characterization of 3 houses

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 01:07 PM PDT

Yes its the 3H guy, rejoice. Today's topic is the characterization of these characters. If played many games in my life so far but right now i would say that 3H has probably the most human characters in the series. Havent played all though. I have no idea how the tellius series is in comparison. What do you think and who is your favorite character and why. Mine is Sylvain because my opinion on him shifted to drastically. In the beginning, i hated him for his womanizing but later on i understood why he does it and even though i still dont approve of his behavior, i can fully understand his point of view.
