    Fire Emblem Character Design Discussion - Three Houses

    Hello friends! This is part 19 of a discussion series on character design throughout the Fire Emblem games. Today we will be looking at the character designs of Fire Emblem Three Houses, or 3H for short. For help analyzing what makes a good design, click here for this series' preliminary notes.

    Here are the pre-timeskip scans from the artbook, be aware of some light spoilers. (I'll be going over the characters' full designs, not just their portraits - will explain in comments)

    For a quick run-down of what we want to be looking for: Unique silhouettes, strong color palettes (usually no more than three colors, not including neutral shades), and asking yourself why a character gives off the impression they do.

    Discussion questions:

    • What characters stand out to you and why?

    • What characters could be improved?

    • Which design is your favorite?

    • What designs improved the most after the timeskip? Do any designs look worse after the timeskip?

    Our Editors' Cut is more complete take on FE5 translation Project Exile, with a revised script, more polished menu text and profile layout, the integration of unused content (giving names and descriptions, fixing their animations), the return of the sound room and of course, FEH names.

    That thread is also an excuse to give a big shoutout to the curently five ongoing projects aiming to translate Project Exile into French, Spanish, German, Italian and Turkish. Do check it out!
