I honestly dislike when people bash Fates.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 07:35 PM PDT

First, I want to acknowledge it's not a perfect game. I am well aware of its faults, but I don't overblow them. Birthrout wasn't unenjoyable, but not varied. You could say the same about Three Houses. It has more objectives (slightly), but not much map variety. Doesn't make it bad.

People seem most angry at the storyline. Birthright was standard FE fanfare, but people seemed to really hate Conquest's plot. Sure, I think it's unsensible to think Corrin is going to win a bloodless war. Sure, Takumi wasn't the best choice for the final boss. But I also get lost in wondering how much people hate the story.

Then Revelations had some questionable map designs. I found the ice village one to be an example of bad map design because of its poor pacing. It felt slow breaking through ice just to get to my goal.

But the truth is, Blazing Blade was my first Fire Emblem back in 2004. I've played every game in the series from there and Awakening is my favorite. Fates used many of the mechanics of Awakening and even upgraded them in some ways. I loved the new classes, I loved how they fixed Pair Up, and I greatly enjoyed the overall cast. I feel the music and aesthetics go well and all 3 routes of Fates were worth the 40+ hours of addiction I put into each of them.

Fire Emblem is one of my favorite series and many of them are among my favorite games of all time. I put Fates high on my favorite games list just because it was a heavily enjoyable title. I find much of its hatred to be overblown and deserves to be heralded as a game that introduced a large, new fanbase and introduced some wonderful characters, mechanics, maps, music, and classes. It largely felt like a continuation of my favorite Fire Emblem title, which I feel is one of the best games ever made.

White Clouds was an odd experience

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 05:44 PM PDT

First time posting here so hopefully, I tagged it right. This is something that has been bouncing around my head for some time. For my first playthrough, I chose the Blue Lion house, and I loved how White Clouds was so interwoven with the students in my house i.e. Ashe with the conflict regarding Lord Lonato, our taste of the failures of the Crest system with Sylvain through Miklan's theft of the Lance of Ruin, the intrigue between Mercedes and the Death Knight to name a few.

Having gone blind into my other runs, I had thought White Clouds in the other routes would be personalized just like it had felt in BL, but was surprised when the same missions were assigned to every route? In a way, maybe that was because as I was playing White Clouds in BL I thought that the other house leaders were doing their own separate missions with their respective professor for the same month. Does anyone else feel like White Clouds seemed skewed to BL, as I do? Do you think this could have been addressed with more personalized White Clouds for each route?

Tl;DR(?) White Clouds seemed catered to the Blue Lions students. Any thoughts?

Chasing Daybreak is a song that represents being surrounded by death and finding the meaning of life. Astronomia is a song celebrating life in the midst of death. They are both in g minor and are approximately 128 bpm in tempo. What followed was nature running its course.
