Forgot how much fun Sacred Stones is! Posted: 08 Jun 2020 01:04 PM PDT After five play throughs of Three Houses, I was needing another adventure to go through. Was having a hard time replaying Path of Radience, but I'd recently been getting into emulators. Wasn't really enjoying New Mystery, and Blazing Blade seemed daunting. Started up Sacred Stones cause I remembered really liking it growing up, and imo I really feel the game still holds up! The story is solid so far, it is really approachable like I've read people say, years removed from playing it. Characters are great so far too, and I'm making an effort to utilize characters I remember not using, which is nice. The thing I really like about it, and it'll probably make me sound not so hardcore, but I actually really enjoy the ability to grind in the game. Maybe I'm too into FEHeroes, but being able to grind really let me relax and enjoy Three Houses, and really extended its value for me. It's one of the reasons New Mystery wasn't doing it for me, the maps were getting monotonous, and the story felt bland at first, and all the units felt pointless if I only had so much time to get them better. Also, Sacred Stones may be the only game I've found utility in an Armored unit. Tell me I'm wrong lol. But also share your fond memories of Sacred Stones! [link] [comments] | ||

What are some of your most desired Three Houses support conversations? Posted: 08 Jun 2020 12:07 PM PDT I really think Three Houses knocked it out of the park in the support department; there so many interesting and often surprising support conversations in this game. But I think there were some missed opportunities in this game, and these are just a few supports I wish IntSys had put in the game. Constance and Lysithea, this support practically writes itself, two magical prodigies with clashing personalities, this could be hilarious and heartfelt Constance and Lorenz, I imagine this could be an interesting turning of the tables with Constance approaching Lorenz and declaring his search for a bride is over and she will marry him and they restore House Nuevelle together and Lorenz being completely overwhelmed Constance and Dedue, this is admittedly a weird one, but I think Coco and Dedue could bond over losing so much and Constance would encourage Dedue to try and rebuild and restore Duscur Edelgard and Sylvain, the fact they these two don't talk is a shame, both of their families were torn apart because of Crests and Sylvain would definitely be onboard with Edelgard's plan to create a world were Crests don't matter Edelgard and Mercedes, similar reasons to Edelgard and Sylvain, but this has the added benefit of them potentially having a debate on what it means to worship the goddess Edelgard and Raphael, another odd pairing, but I think Raph would admire Edelgard for her strength and want to train with her, plus I just want her to interact with more commoners Petra and Dedue, again, this supports writes itself, how could IntSys miss this golden opportunity Linhardt and Hilda, could you imagine the hilarity that would ensue with Hilda trying to get Linhardt to do anything Balthus and Caspar, this is another obvious one, tiny punchy boy wants to train with big punchy man, hilarity ensues Balthus and Ashe, I think this could be a support where Ashe tries to teach Balthus about money saving techniques so he can help payoff his debts Balthus and Felix, similar to Caspar, Felix would want to test his abilities agains the self proclaimed "King of Grappling" Yuri and Claude, I'm honestly shocked these two can't support, two conniving scheming boys with fake names bonding over schemes Yuri and Ashe, they're both commoners who were adopted by nobles and are both thieves, it feels natural that they'd bond Yuri and Hubert, Hubert would definitely take interest in Yuri as both a potential threat and with the desire to make use of his connections to the criminal underworld Hapi and Flayn, these two are polar opposites and I'd love to see them interact Hapi and Lysithea, both specialize in Dark Magic and were experimented on by TWSITD Hapi and Marianne, they both have connections to demonic beasts, and I think Marianne could give Hapi a break from all the loud and eccentric personalities of Three Houses Bernadetta and Ignatz, they both love to paint, they could provide advice and critique to each other Sylvain and Ferdinand, they can both support with Lorenz so the trinity must be completed That's all I can think of for now, I'd love to know what you think of these ideas and tell which characters you wish could talk. Theory regarding Sothis and Byleth Posted: 08 Jun 2020 07:59 AM PDT In Chapter 10, Sothis gifts Byleth with her power in order to help them escape Solon's trap. She says that doing so will make the two of them as one, and that she will vanish. Afterwards, Byleth's hair becomes the same shade as Rhea's, and he/she uses that power to escape. None of that is in question. However, I believe that Sothis did not give Byleth ALL of her power, just a portion of it. She wasn't telling the whole truth. Why is this? I believe that Sothis gifted Byleth with enough power to essentially make them a Nabatean, but not enough to put them at "Goddess" level. They're strong enough to leave the trap, and are pretty much on par with Rhea, minus the dragon transformation. This is shown by the Enlightened One class. Byleth has been given enough power to no longer be considered human, but they're still nowhere near Sothis at her full power. How do we know this? Because Sothis, at her full power, laid waste to Fodlan. She was strong enough to bring an entire futuristic civilization to its knees, and force the survivors underground. She then had to spend a long period of time restoring the land from ruin. Byleth is strong, very strong, but they're never shown to possess this level of power. Hell, they can't even beat Nemesis one on one, something Rhea managed to do. So, why did Sothis only grant a portion of her power? Why did she then lie, and say she would disappear? Simply put, Sothis knows what Rhea is trying to do. By this point, she's gotten all of her memories back. She doesn't know how Rhea managed it, but she does know that she's trying to bring her back to life, using Byleth. As such, she knows that Rhea likely wants/expects her to take over Byleth's body, and be truly reborn. If this were to happen, I imagine Byleth would look like they do in the Sothis Regalia, dark green hair and all. The kicker though? She doesn't want to do it. She cares for Byleth a great deal, possibly even on a romantic level if you believe that her feelings are always canon. If she were to truly give Byleth all of her power, and make their two souls one, Byleth would cease to exist. Sothis would be all that remains. Or best case scenario, Byleth still exists in some fashion, but Sothis is the dominant personality. And why does she lie to Byleth, and say she's going to vanish, when she clearly doesn't? She wants Byleth to have their own life, separate from her. She wants them to choose a path that is their own, without her influence. She knows that, as long as she sticks around, she'll be influencing Byleth somehow. So, as much as it hurts her, she decides to cut herself off from Byleth's life. She still intercedes to wake them up, and I'm sure she is still always watching what they're doing. But she doesn't want to actively interfere anymore. This only changes if Byleth S-Ranks her, whereupon she comes back to them so they won't be alone. Thoughts? This has been on my mind for awhile, and I'm curious what y'all think. [link] [comments] |
