    This is one of the things that I think Fateswakening's support system did better. I understand that Fates letting you S support everyone made the quality of the supports a little worse, and I get that, but that's because most of these supports were basically written to full the S-rank quota for marriage. But the issue was the sheer number of supports written, rather than the concept of S rank supports existing at all.

    We currently have supports with C+ B+ and A+ options, meaning that certain conversations have 4 level of supports in the first place, so it isn't as if stretching a support to a chain 4 long is inherently going to lower the quality.

    As for why I wish they were back: Paired endings.

    Right now, a lot of A rank supports have a romantic overtone due to the ability of characters to fall for each other. As an example, Hilda x Lorenz A rank is romantic, and so is Leonie x Lorenz A+. As such, it's kind of jarring when you read both supports in the same playthrough - is Lorenz just into both of them and enough of a jerk to confess to both? I'd believe it, but I'm not sure if this is intended, and I think it would work better if the romantic bits were reserved for an S rank support that was limited to a single per person.

    Apart from this whiplash, it's a good way to lock-in paired endings. The shipping lady in the abyss is DLC, while this should have been in the base game (and already existed in every single game with paired endings before Three Houses!), and even if she was free, you basically need to grind to lock in endings due to the stupid amount of renown that it costs. The only other way is to just not get an A support with those you don't want a paired ending with, but that like... Really sucks? What if you want to see that support? What if you're playing blind?

    It just sucks to go for a certain paired ending and then not get it because a pair ended up having more invisible support points than the other.
