    Magic only run rules

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 02:57 PM PDT

I saw someone do an axe only run and decided to try my own challenge-magic only. I'm trying to iron out some details so I thought I'd ask the community for advice. My goal is to have a fun challenge, not a super frustrating grind.

I'm playing Black Eagles Hard Classic New Game +

I want to definitely use Byleth, Edelgard, Hubert and Ferdinand. Probably Lindhart and later Jeritza too.

I'm trying to decide if I should allow the use of magical weapons (bolt axe/levin sword) and if I should try to suffer through magic Caspar and Petra or if I should just grab the more potent magic users from other classes.

    Suggestions?

Fire Emblem Character Survey - #9: The Binding Blade (FE6, Second Elibe Poll)

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 01:35 PM PDT

something something FE7's survey will be open until tomorrow at 4:35 AM GMT-4 so vote if you missed it the first time around

    https://forms.gle/a2ZVNDPMU32mtdJZ9 Playable Characters, Part 1.

    https://forms.gle/KB8ujZvAuuH6Ahyf8 Playable Characters, Part 2.

    https://forms.gle/96gY8btwD8ZcmKhK7 NPCs and Antagonists.

Again, not much to say about this one. Just remember that since this game was never officially localized, I tried to use the names everyone was most familiar with. The only exception I can see is Ogier-- plenty of people still call him Oujay.

As an aside, here's a reminder that Thracia comes tomorrow. No, not Jugdral as a whole, Thracia Seven Seventy Freakin' Six. That extremely mainstream game with an extremely memorable and extremely well fleshed-out cast. That being said, I respect the cast for what it was, and find myself liking them quite a bit from their designs and stats alone. As an extra tease, the Genealogy survey will have a separate poll for the subs for the sake of consistency.

That's enough about Jugdral, so without further ado, let's get started with The Binding Blade! If you have any doubts, notify me and I'll make sure to answer as soon as I can.

    Worst Fates Supports

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 12:55 PM PDT

Saizo/Beruka: The C Support was apparently a joke I guess, but then the B Support just came out of nowhere and as a result of the loss of 1 conversation, everything was unbalanced and seemed to come out of nowhere.

Azama/Mozu: He harasses her for 3 supports and then they fall in love. Wat.

Azama/Hinoka: Azama is rude and disobedient to his liege, says he saved her life because he thought she made a funny face, and then didn't even want to try and save a guy's life. I swear, Azama has only two supports where he is nice to people and not a prick. (Setsuna and Effie)

Soleil/Ophelia: Soleil harasses Ophelia and doesn't stop when Ophelia asks her to.

Jakob/Felicia: Jakob is a jerk to Felicia over and over and than marries her. I feel so bad for her...

Peri/Kaden: Peri forces him into marriage against his personal wishes.

Leo/Peri: "Hey, I said you can't kill people, but I'm cool with it now. Let's get married!"

Hana/Corrin: Hana blames them for GETTING KIDNAPPED AS A CHILD. And basically just yells at them for stupid stuff the whole time. Then they can get married. Wat.

Leo/Beruka: Um...not really bad, but the romance came out of nowhere after a support full of Beruka talking about how she'd kill Leo if someone paid her to, and Leo saying he didn't really trust her. I enjoyed the support since it was good for Beruka, but it didn't really seem like romance.

Niles/Mozu: So...Niles is a jerk to her for the C and paty of the B, but is actually quite kind throughout A and S. So, 2 and a half good supports and one and a half bad ones. Better than the japanese support, anyway...

I came here for cute waifus and anime chess, not to be sad.

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 07:59 PM PDT

Just beat the chapter where Monica kills Jeralt. Why did Jeralt have to die? He was such s good dad! And I thought Byleth was supposed to have no emotions because she was a self insert avatar. I just realized that she was actually just repressing her emotions. That scene where she was crying over Jeralt had me crying more than I did in any of the previous games. Why does this game have to be so sad?!? Then Byleth reads her dad's diary and it's the saddest thing. It always hurts me when characters parents die in stories, especially when we get time to know them like Jeralt.

I am kinda glad that Byleth is becoming an actual character though. It wouldn't be as sad if she was another Corrin.

why did everyone decide to stop getting haircuts during the time skip

its not universal but this seems to be the general trend for the post-timeskip makeovers. in general they all look more overgrown and artfully mussed

I'm playing through Geneology of the Holy War and I'm confused on the lore aspect of Julia not marrying and having a negative love growth with Seliph.

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 07:24 PM PDT

I understand all of the glitches and how the love system works. What I don't understand is why Julia has a negative love growth with Seliph and why she's the only child incapable of being paired up.

Do Seliph and Julia start to hate each other or is this just completely baseless? It was obviously deliberate since she's the only character with this quirk and there's already so much incest in GotHW that the half-sibling argument doesn't hold up.

EDIT: I forget that Julia still receives adjacency bonuses and can be paired that way, but this still doesn't change the fact that she has no innate love/growth with anyone except 490 with Seliph but more importantly, a negative love growth with him. It still begs the question, why does everyone hate Julia?

Base Stats For A Theroetic Conquest Reverse Recruitment

Base Stats For A Theroetic Conquest Reverse Recruitment

    https://preview.redd.it/f7vr20s802f51.png?width=990&format=png&auto=webp&s=0edeeb9b8b004926d10ab82380a03f44daa62de0

DISCLAIMER 1: Some of this was automated, some of this was done by hand! I have done some proofreading but there may be an odd error or two, so be warned!

DISCLAIMER 2: All units are assumed to have promoted at level 20 when calculating stats. While there are units in the base game who have lower internal levels than this, they don't have noticeably lower stats than any other prepromote (well except gunter but he's weird), so I have assumed their low internal level is only for the sake of letting them earn EXP faster.

What if reverse recruitment but Conquest? Sounds hard to actually hack but I spent like 2 hours in front of an excel doc working out who would replace who and what stats they'd have. Here is the end result!

Izana and Flora are in their own separate little section away from everyone else because they are the last and second last recruits respectively and if they replaced Corrin you'd be stuck with either a Monk or a Troubadour in the prologue unable to progress, trapped in a dream forever, unable to defeat the monster allowing you to escape... For this reason I have swapped their recruitments with each other instead. Turns out this does literally nothing to their base stats lol.

    Anyway, here's some fun tidbits:

    • Poor Nyx joins at the exact same level 3 chapters later... Or well, kinda. As Kaze's replacement she'd be usable in the pre-split chapters as a level 3 unit, and she could get exp there. But I think she'd die in one hit from anything she could possibly face if they managed to reach her...
    • Camilla replaces Beruka, Beruka replaces Camilla, Selena replaces herself. Beruka is mostly a better Camilla... aside from her speed. She can no longer ORKO Oboro in Chapter 10 Lunatic with an iron axe!!!
    • Exactly one unit here has negative bases, and that is Peri. She gets deleveled slightly on account of replacing Niles, and since her magic base is 0, she technically enters the negatives... But -0.1 rounds to 0 so it doesn't really matter.
    • Corrin's stats are based off of them having no boon or bane. Which isn't a thing that can happen, but I can't realistically cover every combination... Also you can trade them for a pair of boots if you want. Don't tell me you wouldn't.
    • Turns out Arthur's kinda slow! His 50% effective speed growth had me fooled. I guess bases really do matter.

Feel free to argue over who would join with which weapons in the comments.
