Reddit, AITA for wanting to take a more "aggressive" approach to my thing for my boss? Full explanation below.

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 03:04 PM PDT

So, wanted your opinion on something, Reddit. I'm 40m, pretty well off and good looking for my age IMO, but never had a serious relationship because I'm head over heels for my boss (45f). I'm in government, you might say, stationed in the ass end of the desert on the staff of, no exaggeration, one of the most powerful and most gorgeous women in the world. Widow, bright red hair, tall, curvy, ridiculously classy and smart, Olympic class fencer (I shit you not), looks maybe five years older than her deadshit teenage son (occasionally forget he exists tbh; ran off years ago to "find his destiny" because even being heir to a fortune isn't enough for these fucking ungrateful Millennials, I guess). No, I'm not telling you any more about her; she's absolutely a "household name" and even just the description I gave might be enough for some of you to guess who she is.

I've asked her out a couple times, always been turned down for various reasons. Still in love with Dead Husband, wants to concentrate on her admittedly very important job and trying to find Deadshit Son, the female boss-male subordinate thing would be super awkward, all the classics. So I go to askmen for their opinion. End up really hitting it off (not like that, fucking obviously) with these two foreign guys who agree with me she's being super irrational. For now know them only as "Tiger_Eye_Up_Yo_Ass" and "XXX666BloodGutsMoonstone666XXX" but they claim they're like, big military dudes in their home country. Skeptical of that, but on the whole really nice guys.

I tell them I'm really worried about my boss; think she's living in a sort of dreamworld and could use a new man to snap her out of it. They agree; after all, Dead Husband ain't coming back, and honestly Deadshit Son's probably rotting in a ditch somewhere by now too knowing him. They recommended a "tough love" approach that kinda shocked me, I can give more details on request, but the phrase "unlawful imprisonment" came up a couple times. Even offered to fly in to help me if I agreed to their plan. I was pretty shocked, but their argument that maybe she needs something this intense at this stage in her life was honestly pretty convincing.

So, am I the asshole if I agree to it? What do you think?

(Author's note: been seeing these floating around for various fictional characters and thought I'd have a go at one for my personal most annoying FE villain; let me know what you think!)

Reviewing Every Awakening Support Part 2: Lissa

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 04:52 PM PDT

I've recently begun replaying Fire Emblem Awakening for the first time in a while, and am currently trying to fill in my support log. So, I thought this would be fun! Basically I'm going to talk about each support of every character so you don't have to bother. I'll be judging on a scale of terrible to amazing, and this episode focuses on Lissa, princess of Ylisse and Chrom's sister. Note: I'm only including the main child of the character, so if they don't have a "canon" kid I'm not doing their support. Also, not Spotpass characters either since they only haves supports with Robin.

All Supports: Chrom, Robin, Frederick, Virion, Stahl, Vaike, Kellam, Donnel, Lon'qu, Ricken, Maribelle, Gaius, Gregor, Libra, Henry, Owain (These episodes are going to be a lot more time consuming from now on...)

Best S Pairings: Vaike, Virion, Ricken

    Lissa/Chrom:

Lissa wants to be a better princess, but Chrom assures her she's fine the way she is. Good for Lissa, as it explores how she has issues regarding being insignificant compared to her siblings. Good.

    Lissa/Robin:

A lot of pranking, and they have a nice dynamic. Fun.

    Lissa/Frederick:

Frederick demonstrates superhuman levels of endurance while Lissa suffers from his training. Tan the other way around. Good support, so long as you ignore how Frederick is like 25 to Lissa's 16. Good.

    Lissa/Virion:

I actually really enjoyed it. Virion and Lissa's banter, Virion not knowing what he's talking about, and the sheer goofiness of it all makes me give it a...Great.

    Lissa/Stahl:

Cute and wholesome, I like it. Good.

    Lissa/Vaike:

I honestly really like their chemistry. Their banter is enjoyable, they trust each other, and the whole support gives Vaike and Chrom's rivalry a new perspective. Great.

    Lissa/Kellam:

What is with Awakening and pies? It's alright, nothing special really. Fine.

    Lissa/Donnel:

Lissa tries to be Donny's older sister, than they go hunting, than she tries to teach him astronomy? A bit all over the place, but they have a cute dynamic. Good.

    Lissa/Lon'qu:

Am I the only one who doesn't understand the hype? I mean, it's good and all, but I didn;t think it was much more than that. I do like how Lon'qu saved her from an arrow and Owain's dad died saving him from an arrow, though. Good.

    Lissa/Ricken:

This is...actually a very mature and deep conversation between two of the youngest characters (I think Lissa's 16 and Ricken's 15 pre-timeskip?) and I honestly really like that. Gives me Rolf/Mist vibes. Great.

    Lissa/Maribelle:

I love the friendship between these two. Lots of wholesomeness. Great.

    Lissa/Gaius:

The supports were fine, but I loved the S Support. It was hilarious. Fun.

    Lissa/Gregor:

Uh...Isn't Gregor like in his 40's? Well, the supports are alright on their own. Fine.

    Lissa/Libra:

I actually don't have a lot of thoughts on this. Uh, Lissa thinks Libra's like a ghost, I guess? Fine.

    Lissa/Henry:

I actually quite like it, they have nice chemistry. Also, Henry kills some birds for her. Pretty romantic...right? Good.

    Lissa/Owain:

Owain weapon naming shenanigans. Also, the A Support is really sweet. Great.

IN CONCLUSION: The best supports are probably Virion and Ricken, two I've never really paid attention to before now and am honestly surprised by. Vaike is probably third.

    NEXT TIME: Frederick.

How would you rank the stats?

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 06:35 PM PDT

In my opinion, I'd say Strength > Speed > Magic > Defense > Skill = HP > Resistance > Luck.

I put strength above speed because having strength is always appreciated, while speed really matters only in the middle values where you're hitting doubling thresholds.

Magic on the other hand is below speed because enemy resistance tends to be much lower than enemy defense, so mages fall into the 0x2 trap less often.

Skill vs HP could go either way.

Luck is somewhat valuable in iron mans though, seeing a constant threat of 3% crit is pretty scary, and I lost Jagen in chapter 2 of Shadow Dragon due to a 2% crit that was on a 54% hit to boot.

If you could mention one great thing and one alright / not so great thing about each of the FE games you've played, what would they be?

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 09:32 AM PDT

I have to be honest, I haven't played that many, and after reading a few threads on Reddit about what the best FE is or what the best FE to get into are I just get lost and confused because some people use numbers some people use the titles and other stuff like that; so yeah, just wanted to keep it "clean" and simple to see which game I will probably play next

    Here's mine:

    • Fire Emblem: Awakening : Best thing combat was incredibly fun and slightly more forgiving than I expected, worst thing story was a bit ridiculous

I also did play Sacred Stones and Path of Radiance, but I was much younger and tbh don't remember much. All I remember is that they were difficult, I most likely never finished them (and probably didn't get far) but I absolutely loved the games, played them over and over again, enough that to this day I say I'm a "Fire Emblem fan" while barely knowing anything about the franchise haha
