    Quick Take: I don’t think a fire emblem game set in a desert kingdom/sultanate would be that bad, on the grounds that desert maps would be the norm for such a nation, and thus lack the hampered movement. What do you guys think though?

    When the player character in fe fates comes of age, do they have a Corrin-nation to be king

    What era did you come into the Fire Emblem series? Just curious to see when everyone started playing and what their first Fire Emblem game was.

    I have noticed that Fire Emblem has a very diverse set of fans who started the series at different points in time. This stands out to me, given how different each game is.

    So, I'm going to ask if everyone can tell me which era they started in, and what their first Fire Emblem game was. What drew you into the series and made you a fan?

    For the sake of making this easier to follow, I have created the following eras.

    Import Era-This is for fans who got into the series before Nintendo officially released and translated the games outside of Japan. This would cover Fire Emblem 1-6

    GBA-DS era: This covers the first batch of games that Nintendo released in the west to take advantage of the popularity of Marth and Roy in Smash Bros. This era started with Fire Emblem 7 on the GBA, covers the two other GBA games, The Tellius games on Gamecube and Wii, and finally Shadow Dragon on the DS.

    3DS-Era This covers the era where the franchise grew in popularity and attracted tons of new players. Anyone who started with Fire Emblem Awakening, Fates, or Echoes would be from this era.

    Switch Era-Right now, this only covers Three Houses, but this assumes there will be other Fire Emblem games on this system. Three Houses was a breakout success and due to the popularity of the Switch, has allowed the series to find even more fans.

    Fire Emblem Heroes-Not really an era, but I felt it would be wrong not to include Fire Emblem Heroes since it is a gateway game, and might have introduced some new fans to the series.

    So, which era did you start in and what's your first Fire Emblem game?

    For me personally, I started in the GBA era and my first Fire Emblem game was Fire Emblem 7 which I first played in 2004.

    Anyone who started the series with Three Houses and played other games in the series after- Has your opinion of it changed?

    I started with Three Houses, and since then I've finished, or at least tried, a lot of the series (9 games total). And my 3H opinion definitely has changed. I still really like it (I have it in my top 4). But I feel I like it as a game, and not as a Fire Emblem game, if that makes sense.

    I love the characters and the story, and I had a lot of fun on my playthroughs. But the monastery and open class system really hurts the replay value IMO. The monastery gets super tedious, and with everyone wanting to be in the same few classes, it makes every unit feel too similar. The combat is definitely not as fun as other games, too. Hard is too easy and Maddening is better, but uneven. I like the gameplay much better in Conquest and FE6, my top 2. Also, I'd be interested in playing Ironman or other challenge runs, but 3H is definitely not set up for that in how it's structured with students.

    I'm curious, has anyone else had a change in opinion over time, for better or for worse?

    Would you recommend me picking this up?

    So far, I have played PoR, FE7, 3H and conquest.

    Right now, I'm leaning towards getting it but I heard it's very different compared to rest of the series. Should I look other FE games?

    Or is SoV one of the better ones despite the difference?
