    POV: Kris steals your lines

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 08:34 AM PDT

I find the hate for Kris a little excessive and amusing, if understandable.

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 11:45 AM PDT

I don't really mind Kris THAT much. I dislike how his personality clashes with the tone of New Mystery of the Emblem at times (especially those fucking hat scenes) but I did think that a soldier-based viewpoint of the story, with some comic relief thrown in at time, was a good idea. Especially given how little characterization FE1/FE3/FE11 gave anyone who was not an important noble or power-player. I think that people unfairly blame the Kris-centric nature of the characterization on Kris when in actuality they had the impossible task of trying to fill in a huge hole that Kaga/FE11 felt, for whatever reason, to leave unfilled. And while I think it would be amusing to have Kris's role of the 'character everyone talks to and bounces off' to a fan-favorite like Jagen or Caeda (imagine the Jagen/Roger or Caeda/Malicia or Jagen/Athena supports) I can understand why they didn't do that and just gave the role to a character who didn't really have strong opinions outside of Protecting Marth and My Friends.

File Kris under one of those 'I think it was a good idea, they just really, REALLY botched the execution' ideas. I'll put it between Kishuna and Gen II Lewyn.

Same Name Slam #16: Battle of the Black Knights (Camus vs Ares vs Black Knight)

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 06:28 AM PDT

Welcome back to the Same Name Slam, the battle to see which character earns the right to be called by their name versus the other characters with the same or similar name. Last time on the Same Name Slam, we had the Battle of the Sonias. The scoring was as follows:

In second place with 7 points was Sonia!

And in first place with 18 was Sonya!

Congratulations to Sonya! She has earned the title of being the best Sonia of Fire Emblem.

More detail on scoring can be found in this comment here.

On today's episode, we have the Battle of the Black Knights! This one is a bit weirder since no character is outright named Black Knight, but we're looking at the three characters whose title is "Black Knight" in some form.

First off, the paladin from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, Camus! Camus is the famous Sable Knight who is a skilled general in Grust's employ. He also is close to Nyna whom he saved sometime before the game's events, yet he is unable to betray his country and join her and Marth.

Secondly is the cavalier from Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, Ares! Ares, the Black Knight, is the son of Eldigan who wields the Demon Blade, Mystletainn. He is feared across Jugdral for his prowess at fighting.

Last but not least is the antagonist from the Tellius games himself, the Black Knight! The Black Knight is Ike's rival throughout the course of FE9. He's a mysterious knight encased in armor blessed by the goddess Ashera, and not much is known about him besides that he fights for Daein and that he wields the Alondite sword.

Also there's apparently two characters from Tear Ring Saga named Mintz and San who have the "Black Knight" class. You can vote for them too if you'd like, I guess.

Just to review, these are the rules:

    1. Do not be mean to other users; be nice and avoid the ad hominem.

    2. Any argument that isn't sexually explicit is allowed. As LaqOfInterest said, "There are no stupid arguments." Throw down whatever you have! (Yes, ad hominem towards the characters themselves is allowed.)

    3. Mark your spoilers.

And just as a reminder, each round lasts 24 hours, and you have to submit a parent-level comment to "vote." Higher effort comments earn 2 points each, while lower effort comments earn 1 point each. Now that the post is done, let's get rolling!

    Should I buy Revelation?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 01:13 PM PDT

Ok so I got 40 dollars in Eshop currency and since it's the only path i don't have I was wondering if I should buy Revelations. I'm just a little skeptical because I've heard extremely bad things about it. I can already tell I won't care for the story, but Conquest and Birthright both showed me I value gameplay over that anyway. I'm on a little fire emblem kick, and if I don't buy Revelation, the only other one on DS I'd have left to buy is Echoes(which i really don't want to because I heard it lacks replay ability and sucks)

So yeah I'd just like to know if it would be worth it to buy Revelation for the gameplay. Are the maps any fun? Is the customizability with children worth it? Does it have replay ability? Will I get bored halfway through it and drop it like with Birthright? And if I decide it's not worth it what are some other similar games that would be worth it? Can be either on 3ds or Switch and I already have Awakening and 3 houses.
