    Hello folks,

    Yes, it's that time of year again. The event that we've all been waiting/procrastinating for, it's the tenth annual FEE3.

    For those of you who are new, FEE3 is a fan game convention that brings together hobbyists who work on Fire Emblem-related projects to showcase our collective progress and new initiatives. Back in the dark days of 2011, when it seemed like the series' days in the west might be over with the lack of an English translation of FE12, Fire Emblem hackers decided to band together and host our own E3 to celebrate the work that goes into the fan game community.

    Ever since then, we have continued this tradition each year. Last year, we had 44 projects from a wide variety of different platforms! This year is going to be our biggest show yet, with 18 days of content planned and a whopping 72 entries!

    FEE3 Schedule

    Videos scheduled to drop every 6 hours at 12 AM, 6 AM, 12 PM, and 6 PM EST

    Additionally, this year, we're running FEE3 as a charity drive! Donate to RAINN as part of FEE3 here, site admin Camdar will also be matching donations up to the first $1500 as well!

    For those unaware, RAINN is the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.

    im talking mainly about personality rubbing you the wrong way so you take all their items and run them into an angry mob? or maybe it would be better to say a unit whos not worth resetting the game for or using up the turn weal or whatever.

    I have a really huge pet peeve regarding Marth in Warriors

    His map sprite. He uses the lodestar map sprite from Awakening, which is almost identical to Lucina's lord sprite. I absolutely hate it, and the reason I hate it is because ol Marthy boy has a unique sprite in Fates. It's literally right there. It's just right fucking there. They already took the overworld sprites for the Fates cast, but they just left Marth's entirely unique sprite out. WHY? Every time I play the game, it just bothers me way more than it should. COME ON IS/KT, what's the big fucking idea?

    [FE4 Character Discussion] Examining the Crusaders #29.5 - Deimne, Aspiring Archer

    Hello and welcome back to Examining the Crusaders, the series where we take a look at all of the playable characters in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. Yesterday we looked at Lester, Archer of the Liberation Army; today, we will go look at his substitute, Deimne, Aspiring Archer.

    ------

    Deimne is a commoner who is the older brother of Muirne. He has three unique conversations: one with Muirne which replaces Lester's conversation with Lana, a secret event in Chapter 6, and an event with Daisy in the Endgame. In addition, he also has a unique ending.

    ------

    Chapter 6 conversation with Muirne: Deimne appears and is shocked that Muirne is fighting; she tells him that she could not bear to leave Seliph out on the battlefield alone. Deimne says to himself that he isn't surprised, but Muirne hears this and asks what he means by that. Deimne after that tells Muirne not to get too "invested" in Seliph as he is a prince and thus common peasants like them normally shouldn't be around him; he doesn't want to see her feelings hurt. Muirne rebukes him for getting the wrong idea as she claims that all she wants to do is make sure Seliph survives the war. Deimne just says that he's concerned for Muirne; Muirne thanks him for that.

    On Deimne's end of the conversation, we see that Deimne, like Lester, seems to be hesitant to let Muirne fight. However, Deimne takes a little bit of a different turn from Lester as he warns his younger sister not to pursue Seliph. He has the realistic take that any relationship between Muirne and Seliph wouldn't last long because of the class difference between them; this contrasts against Muirne trying to be optimistic. Deimne carries this pessimistic tone in some of his later conversations; here though, it not only contrasts against Muirne but is where Deimne's concern for Muirne is born out of.

    Chapter 6 secret event: Deimne enters Isaach castle. When he does, a village girl named Corinne recognizes Deimne and is happy to see him. Deimne notes that it has been a while since they have last seen each other. Corinne is happy to see that he's in good shape given how long it has been since he and Muirne had bid farewell to the city. Deimne tells Corinne that he's been trying to help Seliph's rebellion even if he hasn't done much; Corinne still reassures him that it's amazing that he went from being a crybaby to helping out with the rebellion. Deimne laughs and asks her not to tell anyone else that he used to be a crybaby; he goes on to say that he still has some ways to go to become stronger and ensure that everyone (and Corinne) can live in peace. Corinne, trailing off, says that she hopes he can, and Deimne asks her if something is wrong. She passes it off as nothing and hands Deimne a necklace, a last memento from her (implied to be dead) mother, that will make him stronger. Deimne tries to refuse to take such a treasured item but Corinne insists that he should as her mother would have wanted it to be put to good use. Deimne thanks Corinne and promises to give it back to her after the end of the war; he then leaves and asks her to take care. After Deimne leaves, Corinne says his name trailing off.

    Deimne and Corinne clearly have a friendship of some kind, and their encounter here is rich with characterization that one wouldn't expect from between a substitute and a generic villager sprite. They're so happy to see each other when they first meet. Then, Deimne reveals to Corinne that he's helping Seliph out. He's not proud of it too much because he doesn't think he is that helpful; Corinne on the other hand, a villager on the ground, sees it as amazing that her friend (who she also gets a little tease in against) is helping to liberate them. We then see that Corinne wants to say something but trails off; at the very least it can be inferred that Corinne wants Deimne to succeed greatly. This inference is backed up by Corinne handing Deimne her most prized possession, the necklace of her mother, in order to let him get stronger. Deimne is hesitant to take it likely because he sees himself as unworthy to - the former crybaby who is barely doing anything to help Seliph. He only accepts the gift of the necklace when Corinne insists on it and then he goes off to put the necklace to good use to help liberate everyone - the Isaachian people and his village girlfriend Corinne.

    Endgame conversation with Daisy: Daisy asks Deimne what's up; Deimne replies that he's feeling worthless. Daisy inquires further and asks why, to which Deimne explains that the "normal people" like them might as well not be there. Daisy disappointedly says that they (Seliph and the other nobles) don't really need them. Deimne concurs and says that he will find a real job in Isaach; Daisy adds that she will be with him after the tiring war. Deimne then exclaims that they're hopeless.

    Like in the previous conversation, here Deimne feels a bit worthless. This conversation lampshades the fact that substitutes in-game do not contribute as much as the units with holy blood, and it has Deimne feeling down; he resolves to go find a "real job" in Isaach, presumably where they won't be worthless solely because of their lack of holy blood.

    ------

    Ending: Deimne will return to Isaach and thanks Seliph for everything. Seliph gives his thanks to Deimne, and Deimne tells Seliph to take care of himself. More interestingly is Deimne's lover conversations if he has one; he will invite his lover to come home to Isaach with him to her surprise. Deimne also has different dialogue if his sister Muirne died; Seliph will express regret for Muirne's death but Deimne will take the full blame for letting his sister die. This shows, again, Deimne's pessimism as he puts himself down for something which may not entirely be his fault.

    ------

    Final thoughts: Deimne adds a lot more flavor which Lester doesn't have. The common theme of Deimne is that he's pessimistic due to his lack of holy blood and status as a commoner. In his conversation with Muirne, we see that he tries to dissuade his sister from pursuing Seliph due to their status difference as he fears that the relationship won't work. Later in his conversation with Corinne, Deimne belittles himself and says that he doesn't really do anything for Seliph; he deems himself unworthy of the great honor that Corinne wants to put on him. And in his conversation with Daisy he is just straight up dejected at his inability to contribute that much compared to the nobles of the army like Seliph and Leif. He still tries his best though, and after all when he's done he goes back to Isaach to help rebuild.

    What a legend, seriously. Absolutely outstanding.

    This guy has four A supports that are basically marriage proposals, as well as two honorable mentions that feature some mega flirting energy.

    With Annette:

    Linhardt: And I suppose I will try to do a little bit more for you too... I find working for others to be annoying, yet I wish to make an exception for you. I hope that's all right...

    Annette: Just for me?

    Linhardt: Indeed. You're the only person I'd bother helping. I could wear myself out helping you. Forever, maybe. What about it? I'll be there for you, and you can be there for me.

    Annette: Oh! What do you mean by that?!

    Linhardt: What?

    Annette: If we're doing our best for each other and all, then that's a bit like...just kind of like...like a marriage!

    Linhardt: Huh. You know, I feel as if you might be able to wake me up every morning. No small feat, that.

    Annette: Hmph! As though I would marry a man who can't even get up in the morning!

    With Lysithea:

    As part of that overelaborate pastry + poison metaphor lol.

    Lysithea: Hang on, Linhardt. Do you mean to tell me you care about me? Since when?

    Linhardt: When indeed. You are someone I care about though. So much so, I wish we could be family, you and I.

    Lysithea: Family?! That escalated rather quickly.

    With Marianne:

    Linhardt: It's probably just that you and the people around you have had some bad days. It happens. I'm going to watch over you from now on, and if either of us has bad luck... Well, I'll look into whether it's just chance or if it's your Crest. In fact, I'll dedicate my life to it.

    Marianne: Your life? For me?

    Linhardt: Especially for you, Marianne. Don't make me spell it out...

    With Flayn:

    Just the entire support. The whole thing. This guy.

    In which he proposes making babies together - for science.

    Flayn: Do you mind going back to what you mentioned earlier?

    Linhardt: Pardon? Which part?

    Flayn: The part about marrying and having children! I've always believed, rather firmly, that marriage is something between two people who love one another.

    Linhardt: I like you well enough to advance a field of study to previously unknown heights. How do you feel?

    Flayn: This is the first I've heard of such a thing from you!

    Linhardt: Do you imagine I've spent all this time talking to you because I was bored? Anyway, I'm pretty worn out now, so let's continue this conversation another time, yes?

    Flayn: Does conversing with me tire you out so much?

    Linhardt: Talking to anybody tires me out. Thinking, putting thoughts into words, opening my mouth-all tiring. Do give some thought to my proposal. Think of how far we could advance Crest research, you and I.

    Flayn: Experimental marriage and children? He likes me? I don't understand. I don't understand at all.

    I just.

    This fucking guy lol.

    From what I can gather, all support chains in FE3H are meant to be canon - i.e. they coexist together. This is actually very cool because it conveys how each character - after completing every support, and thus forming strong bonds with a variety of people - ends up developing in multifaceted ways. (Felix, for instance, is an excellent example of this.)

    But Linhardt?

    This fucking guy, this sleepy boi. He meets a beautiful crest-bearing female and immediately he's like. You know what? I'm about that. Let's get married and have crest babies.

    I just love the idea that this scenario is totally possible: he has that lovely, heartfelt moment with Lysithea in which he tells her that he cares about her and wants to be a family with her, only for her to find out the very next day that he said to Annette that he'd like her to wake him up every morning, only for them to find out the very next day that he proposed bearing children with Flayn, only for them to find out the very next day that he's sworn to dedicate his life to Marianne.

    He's so sincere in each one of these, too. I love this fucking guy.

    Per u/cearav: it's worth mentioning that Linhardt flirts hard in a few of his other A supports, too. Such as:

    With Bernadetta:

    Linhardt: I'm not sure how praising you means I'm trying to get my hooks into your heart...

    Bernadetta: I have a heart of stone! No one will ever get to it!

    Linhardt: What a shame. I suppose I'll stop praising you, then.

    Bernadetta: Y-you will? No, I...I didn't mean it that way! You can, um... You can praise me as much as you want!

    Linhardt: I don't understand you one whit. However, if you want praise, then praise you will get. You're cute.

    Bernadetta: Ah! Don't say stuff like that!

    and with Hapi:

    Hapi: Maybe it's time to start on your next epic quest—giving up and going home. People are dying up there, after all. We don't have time for this sort of thing.

    Linhardt: What sort of thing? You? I'd say you're way more important than the pursuit of war. More interesting too.

    Hapi: Yeah, I'm the next big thing in Crestology. How flattering. You gotta stop saying things like that or someone might get the wrong idea. Lucky for you, I'm used to your weirdness by now.

    Linhardt: I'm sorry my sincerity rubbed you the wrong way. I meant what I said, but that's fine.

    as u/cearav says: It would make sense for him to be like that, since he's the kind of guy who says whatever comes to his mind without thinking much. He genuinely means everything.

    And Hapi says to Linhardt that "someone might get the wrong idea", without realizing that they're not getting the wrong idea at all.

    This fucking guy. What a legend.

    And it's still weird to realize that all of the marriage proposals/flirting overtures are to women with Crests. Wot stellar dedication for this aspiring scholar, eh?

    Jo, everyone!

    Welcome to the 12th thread of this small community project, where we play, discuss, shill and promote Hacks & Fangames. For this thread and for next couple weeks, we will be having FEE3 special discussions, to promote and discuss the event currently happening.

    What is FEE3?

    Back in 2011, when FE12 didn't get localized, the FE hacking community banded together to host their own game show and to celebrate the fan game community and the work that gets put into it. A Fire Emblem E3, so to say.

    Ever since then, the tradition has been upheld, and this year it's the 10th annual FEE3, with a whopping 72 enteries!
