Share your incredibly minor and honestly trivial nitpicks about the series / any FE game here

    Posted: 08 Oct 2021 01:36 PM PDT

As the title says. For example:

In FE3H, the game says Faerghus is a cold and snowy land. Why are are there no snow maps?

Why is the little kid dragon in each game always a girl? Only male one I can think of is Kana.

Who is the least viable unit in all of Fire Emblem?

    Posted: 08 Oct 2021 07:18 AM PDT

At this point I have played basically every Fire Emblem except Tracia 776 and something I've been wondering is who is considered the absolute worst, most useless unit in the series and why (and if possible not just because they join at only the last chapter of the game).

I don't consider myself a Fire Emblem expert, and I haven't tried out every unit ever, but from my point of view I would say that Sophia from FE6 is the single worst unit. She joins way too late, only at Level 1, has extremely low base stats, a Defense stat of 1 and a Speed stat of 4 that is additionally lowered by any dark magic tome due to their weight and her low Constitution. And on top of that she is totally outclassed by Ray (or Raigh).

Another contendet is Gareth from FE10 who, yes, does only join for the last two parts of the final chapter, but what makes him interesting (or uninteresting depending how you look at it) is that he has, opposite to Nasir) high Defense and low Resistance, but all the enemies he can possibly encounter in the rest of the final chapter are magic users, which renders his Defense completely useless.

So what it your opinion on it? Do you think there are worse units than those two? Maybe units that are worse for other reasons? Maybe bad units from Tracia 776?

I'd be really interested to know!

Why does Hilda not get any hate?

    Posted: 08 Oct 2021 05:25 AM PDT

She unapologetically racist, her family owns slaves, and she has a tendency to manipulate others into doing things for her. Isn't there a connection to be made of this? How is she a likable character?

Activity: Change a plot device that automatically makes an FE plot better

    Posted: 08 Oct 2021 11:39 AM PDT

Think of this as a sort of inspired companion to this thread. If you could change one plot device to make any Fire Emblem plot better, which one would you change and how would you go about it?

That thread has some solid discussion on a lot of commonly-held beliefs about poor plot points. I suspect many of us have thought about those plots long enough to have come up with "our" solutions to make them less unbearable.

Interested to hear your thoughts and plots!

I had the dumbest, but best idea for a Three Houses AU TV Show today

    Posted: 08 Oct 2021 06:15 PM PDT

    Fire Emblem: Gangs of Fodlan

    Each of the Houses represents a criminal gang in the city;

    • Black Eagles - An upper-crust, high-end, best-equipped and best money gang. Deals mainly in tech crimes, high-end heists, black market exchanges and smuggling, private security, political assassinations and other high-end power plays. Think high-end suits and dresses, armored guards and private military types etc.
    • Blue Lions - Classic Mafia/Yakuza gang, deals in protection rackets, fraud, "problem solving", luxury item smuggling etc. Fedoras, sharp suits etc.
    • Golden Deer - Street Gang/Thugs. Drug dealers, drug smugglers, brazen thefts and heists (like bank robberies) etc. Very bling-y and punk-looking.

Seteth is the Chief of Police in Fodlan City, the capital of the country. The Wolves form higher-ranking members of the police, mostly corrupt with a few good officers here and there trying to do the right thing. The Gatekeeper is a starry-eyed rookie cop definitely trying to make the city a better place but keeps getting caught up the in the insanity of the gang's little tussles, but always surviving (mostly) unharmed, sometimes in comedic ways.

Season 1 would be all about the Three Gangs and their struggle for control of Fodlan City, while fighting off and dealing with the Bandits, led by the guy from the end of 3H's Golden Deer ending.

Season 2 would have M!Byleth and F!Byleth show up as agents from the government, sent there by President Rhea to deal with the Three Gangs...and Rhea doesn't particularly care if that involves cuffs or body bags. But mid way through they discover the existence of Those Who Slither in the Dark, an underground group of wealthy elites, political cutthroats and aspirants trying to kill off all competition in Fodlan and elsewhere to take control of the country, including assassinating President Rhea.

Season 3 would see the Byleths forced to team up the cops and the Three Gangs in order to stop TWSD before they can carry through with their plans (which would be bad for everyone).

I'll wait for my check by mail, okay Nintendo?
