How did I not know my FE: Heroes avatar would be a main character? I swear, I’ve played this series for twenty years, and I didn’t realize when I typed in a name it’d be a recurring role.

RAGE—Sing, Goddess, sing the rage of Lambert's son Dimitri, black and murderous, that cost Faerghus countless losses, hurling into the house of Death many strong souls, great fighters' souls, made their bodies carrion, feasts for the dogs and birds, and the will of Sothis was moving towards its end. Begin it when the two first broke and clashed, the Lord Marshal Byleth, son of Jeralt, and brilliant Prince Dimitri…

How would you fix a commonly frowned upon map while sticking as close as possible to its current form?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2021 08:23 AM PST

There was a thread on here just a few days ago where people discussed their most disliked chapters and it made me curious how they could be fixed without changing them entirely.

The title might be worded a bit clunkily so I'll set an example with a map that I really hate:

Chapter 4-3 in Radiant Dawn takes place in a giant, open desert with lots of enemies including reinforcements, has rout as its objective and takes place during the portion where your units are split up across 3 groups so you'll only have few of your heavy hitters around, unless you decided to gimp the other groups.

What makes this chapter so boring to play through is the way it'll extend itself whenever new reinforcements appear which is hard to cover when most of your units have a movement penalty, enemies are difficult to consistently one-round and how long into the chapter new reinforcements can still appear *across the map*.

From a story perspective I get that this is Ashera reviving the Disciple of Order so it makes sense there would be reinforcements and you can't just keep them alive so it can't be a boss kill chapter. An easy fix to keep the "feeling" of the chapter still intact would just be to halt reinforcements once Numida (the boss) is killed. And this could easily be applied to the other pre-tower chapter in part 4 as well.

It probably would still be kinda boring but make it a lot less tedious to play.

What do you think, what are your suggestions?

What is the difference between Fates: Conquest and Fates: Birthright?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2021 05:26 PM PST

I just finished playing Three Houses and next I'd like to play one of the 3DS games. I've decided that I'd like to play Fates first but I'm not sure of the difference between the three versions. So far I know that the Conquest family is the family you grew up with and their father is the 'bad' guy. Birthright family is your actual family and both families are in a war with each other. Are there any major story changes between the two routes? Can the same units (other than the family and retainers) be recruited in both routes? Thank you in advance.

    FE9 100% HM LTC (Chapter 6)

    https://youtu.be/9MpXzDL4FMY

    Notes:

-Titania reaching Level 3 was needed to ORKO Emil cleanly.

-Boyd can ORKO the soldiers depending on the stat rolls

-Ike ORKOing the soldier on T3 was not needed as Oscar would have been able to clear a path for Ike.

-Oscar's grinding from the defend map in the last chapter will allow him to ORKO certain enemies with Short Spear for the next chapter

    Post Chapter EXP:

    Ike 6.68

    Titania 3.84

    Soren 4.69

    Oscar 6.54

    Boyd 6.17

    Rhys 5.0

Dimitri and Sylvain: The Melancholic case of always being there but not necessarily being together.

    Posted: 21 Nov 2021 01:05 PM PST

Forgive my try hard title, but I am very interested in this one aspect.

I just got the game recently after pining after it since its announcement. I'm broke and only just now got a switch and FE3H.

When it comes to the lions who spent their time as cubs together, half the time they are described as a trio when they are very much a quartet. The fact that this problem is thriving rent free in my head is the fact that i take frindship way too seriously, IRL and most especially in my fiction.

Why aren't Dimitri and Sylvain close? One could write it off as Felix being the only one to have access to Dimitri in their youth, but that can't be true. Sylvain and Dimitri have shared memories which proves they grew up around each other. They shared their childhood but are still distant where it counts, and I think that's more of an anomaly because growing close is pretty hard not to do when you are in someone's company all the time. That's why we befriend classmates, colleagues etc.

So why? I want to hear your opinions most of all, but I am of 2 camps on this matter:

    1) Analysing the Canon (I have only played Azure Moon so far, just started my next run and plan on going BE/CF) and seeing where Sylvain and Dimitri stand from what is there.

    2) Reworking the supports entirely and crafting something new without changing their history.

It is so incredibly telling that these 2 are not close. They have no A support of the childhood quartet and what they do have is cute but admittedly shallow.

Why would Sylvain and Dimitri not be too close? Here are my 2 cents:

    The burden of nobility:

Sylvain, unlike Dimitri, has never had the privilege of a blissfully oblivious childhood. He was welcomed into this world hated by his brother. So much so that Miklan tried to kill him a few times.

Perhaps, to Sylvain, watching Dimitri thrive in this oppressive system made him feel a tad bit resentful. That Dimitri could be happy like this. Maybe at worst hatred or resentment, but at best felt like he truly couldn't relate to his friend.

And then the tragedy of Duscur happened and Dimitei had closed his heart off.

    2) My rewrite:

The C-Support might start off on the same womanizing chastising note. But they make good on the other half of the promise and Dimitri cajoles Sylvain into one training session to appease him.

I havent thought the whole thing out but what i want is Dimitri perhaps saying that he has no right to pull Sylvain's ear about it, seeing as they're not that close. Ingrid or Felix would be better. Sylvain might out on his affable smile and say that its no problem.

Dimitri could point out that he noticed that Sylvain was a bit down in their youth but at spme point Sylvain got better at hiding it, and now Dimitri wonders if he knows him. Sylvain could say right back at ya, that dimitri feels so closed off. Especially after the tragedy of Duscur.

And then after the war they can talk about Dimitri's psyche and trauma and the shadow it casts, and then sylvain can talk about the shadow Crests have cast over his life. This way, Dimitri can know about kne of the biggest problems in Fodlan which he is largely ignorant to in the narrative.

This was a rush job and I really just wanted to get my feelings out. Sorry if it was hard to get through! I really want to know what you guys think about this relationship.
