I'm a little disappointed in Claude.

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 01:52 PM PST

Spoiler warning for ki da anything related to Claude I guess?

So in the begging of the game Claude was set up to be this morally gray figure, who has his schemes and never shows his full cards and u was sure that he is going to betray someone or do something crazy. But he doesnt and I'm kinda disappointed I guess? I still love Claude, my favorite 3H Lord, but I think that it would have been kinda nice to see something of him that isn't so pure and kind hearted, because as it is Claude is the most objectively good Lord in 3H. I mean he doesn't fall into a wild rampage and threaten to kill his friends, nor does he declare war for an unnecessary cause. He just wants to end racism, which is very cute but still.

The only route I haven't played yet is Silver Snow, so sorry if my lack of knowledge makes this post obsolete lol. Also I just wanted to get my thoughts out of my brain so no long analysis

What's your favorite system to train units?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 02:52 PM PST

Optional ways to train your units to level them up have existed since the first game in the series. In a series where there are so many playable characters in each game, having options to train your units besides the usual way is appreciated. Fire Emblem has seen different ways to handle this, let's recap:

    • In-map arena (FE 1 ,3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12): the most common system, though absent in the latest games. Some maps have a tile that is an arena/colosseum, where units can enter once per turn to fight for gold and experience. These arenas, however, are a bit risky, since if your unit is defeated, they die as if they were defeated in a normal battle. However, you can always press B to stop the fight and avoid their imminent death.
    • In-base arena (FE 4, 12): it works like the in-map arena, with the difference that this one is accessed from the base (be a castle in FE 4 or the preparations menu in FE 12). These offer less risk since you access them from your base (and in the case of FE 4, units don't die if they are defeated).
    • Optional battles / skirmishes (FE 2, 8, 13, 14, 15, 16): these are battles (full maps) that you engage from the world map or by choosing them from a list. It's the system that has been used in the last 4 games, replacing the arena. They offer an endless way of grinding.
    • Bonus experience (FE 9, 10): exclusive to the Tellius games, it consist of bonus experience points that you get from completing certain objectives in battle. After each battle, they are added to a pool, and you can distribute them to your units however you want. In the case of FE 10, level ups got from this system always grant an increase of exactly 3 stats. A must have for staff users. And for Fiona.

As you see, every single game has a way to provide additional experience to your units. What are your favorites? Or, what do you think about each system?

Mine are the optional battles. The more maps I can fight, the better. I like to use every singe unit the game has, so with optional battles I can train every unit so they don't get behind.

The bonus experience system would be my second favorite for this. You have more control to where to distribute the experience, although it's a limited resource. However, I wish the Tellius games had optional maps instead; I would like to have more opportunities to use certain characters in Radiant Dawn.

In-base arena are better than nothing, I guess. But the classic in-map arena is something I've never liked. Too much risk for the reward they offer. I prefer to have underleveled units rather than try my luck there.
