Concept for Three Houses DLC that literally only I would enjoy.

    Posted: 08 Jan 2020 06:18 PM PST

Three Houses is a great game. I think not only is it a game that oldhead fans of Fire Emblem can enjoy, but it's a great game for newcomers to the series as well. It has a wonderful story that subtly deconstructs many stables of the series, amazingly memorable characters and also Cyril and Gilbert, and fun gameplay. However, I feel it's missing something. Ah yes

    BUREAUCRACY

After the ending of Silver Snow and Verdant Wind, Byleth becomes the King of a united Fodlan. Why don't we get to play that? Well in my make believe DLC that literally only I would like, we would get to! Yes, this would put you right in the seat of being the leader and get to some with all the messiness that is being the leader of what is essentially Europe.

In this mode, there wouldn't be that much combat. There'd be some here and there, but your goal as the leader is to avoid it as much as possible. The main things you'd be doing is deciding how you want to lead a United Fodlan. So you'd be choosing how to levy taxes, where to put your money, building roads, building houses, negotiating with the leaders of other countries, solving disputes between lords, and making sure the people of Fodlan are happy. The people you brought along the way and whom's't survived might also be there to try to convince you to do one thing or another. For example, Ferdinand might come up to you and argue that higher education should be free for the people but Lorenz would come up and argue that higher education shouldn't be free. Claude might come up to you and argue for opening the border with Almyra but Holst would come up and argue it should be closed. [insert someone here] might argue we should try to use the Agarthans technology while Rhea might argue against it. Then you decide if you want to listen to one person or the other or maybe even go your own way.

If you do well, all will be fine. If you screw up, you might get an uprising on your hand. For instance, let's say you made taxes super high. Then maybe some small town would be unhappy because they can't afford it and the people might revolt. You then can either hear them out, squash them, or be a huge dick and ignore it till it blows over. If you kowtow to the Church of Seiros too much, then maybe Ashe might try to finish what Lonato started. In these instances when uprisings you could also choose to go into the battle yourself or send your army to deal with it for you while you sit out. Putting down an uprising

In everything you do you would either gain or lose reputation with the people. They may come to think of you as a fair ruler, an okay ruler, or maybe just an outright terrible one depending on all the things that you do. This reputation system would be split into a General Reputation and Reputations with particular groups. Like the people of some regions and also the Church of Seiros. Your goal is to make your reputation as high as possible, but you'd also soon learn you can't make everyone happy. You might have to piss off one group to make sure things are as good for as many people as possible.

So yeah. I doubt anyone but me would like that.

Just for Fun: Let's theorycraft a Fire Emblem game where the avatar isn't just disliked, but outright HATED by everyone

    Posted: 08 Jan 2020 02:51 PM PST

A long long time ago in a galaxy far away, Fire Emblem games didn't really have avatars. You kinda had an Avatar-ish character in Binding Blade with Mark, but you couldn't play as him as he was just a strategist.

But come Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem, the game started introducing Avatar characters. The avatar character there was named Kris.

One main issue people have with Avatar characters is they tend to get worshiped a lot. While granted, there usually is one or two character skeptical of the Avatar, like Frederick and Seteth, they eventually do come to like them. Now what if we take that and move it onto everyone.

Let's theorycraft a game with that. Everyone just hates you. And you can decide whether or not the avatar character ever becomes liked.
