Does anyone else get the urge to play through this game again, only to realize they'd have to replay the same 12 starting levels all over again and immediately feel all of that desire melt away?

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 11:27 AM PDT

Look, I get it. This game is really popular. It was a huge success. And nobody likes a naysayer, especially when said opinion isn't exactly... new.

But as much as I enjoy the post-timeskip of this game (particularly the BL and CF routes, even if the latter was clearly unfinished), getting back into the game is an absolute chore.

I hate the first 12 chapters of this game. I wrote a multi-page essay to my brother outlining everything I hate about the first half of this game, because there is so much there that I loath. Granted, most of this really only becomes a problem on repeat playthroughs, but the fact that the game encourages multiple playthroughs without offering any sort of tangible variance for half of the actual game just... kills the overall experience for me. Even Fates, with its myriad problems, had the grace to make the divergent point fairly close to the start and lets you skip it if you want.

To be more specific, I have grievances with:
    - How, no matter which house you side with, the events of the first half of the game are virtually the same. The only differences are minor dialogue changes depending on who is with you.

-Byleth, and the utter absurdity that is how they're treated like the world's most special snowflake for literally no reason by the entire world and everything about them being added to the monastery as a teacher.

-The story in the first half, which has little to nothing to do with the second half barring the final battle, and how dumb everything involving Jeralt's death and you being banished to the Shadow Realm is.

    - The Timeskip itself and how it happens.

There is more, but I digress.

But in spite of what I see as an utterly baffling game design decision, I don't see many people actually talking about it. The only complaints that ever come up seem to be the endless debate about Edelgard, which... ugh.

So am I alone here? Does anyone else find it hard to get back into this game when they realise they have to treck through the same dozen hours of repetitive BS for the 5+ time?

If the blue lions ran a charity carnival fundraiser.

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 03:49 PM PDT

Dimitri: bell strength test for a prize. Raphael won by sitting on it. Even though it wasn't the rules he hit the bell.

Sylvain: kissing booth: no one payed/showed up and was shutdown buy ingrid.

Ingrid: has idea of a dunk tank with sylvain as the guy being dunked. Felix was her first customer.

Annete and mercedes: manage the sweet food. They invented funnelcake and is a hit with the people.

Felix: opened a booth for people to throw objects at him for a minute to see if people would hit him and if thwy win they get a prize. He gets sword training and meets carnival expectations, win win.

Ashe: the savory foods of the carnival.

Dedue: the maintenance of the carnival to ensure dimitri's booth isn't too worn out and helps with both food booths.

What do you think of these? Any changes to them.
