For me it was Faye, she's not blatant tits like Tharja/Camilla, I can actually understand her having a romantic interest in Alm as opposed to "I suddenly am completely yandere for someone I just met." Revelation Redux Tier List Round 6: Selena, Beruka, Kaden and Keaton Posted: 15 Feb 2021 03:43 PM PST Welcome to Round 6: Selena, Beruka, Kaden and Keaton Each round will last about 24 hours in between each other. Rate the units in each tier, and give clear explanations on why. Feel free to comment on each other and discuss why you agree or disagree. Be polite, and remember, this is all in good fun. After the 24 hours, I will review all the answers and understand what the consensus reached has been, posting the result in the next round. If there is no clear majority, a tally will be made. A look at Desmond's weird plans Posted: 15 Feb 2021 02:37 PM PST For those who aren't familiar with Desmond, here's a quick rundown. Desmond was the King of Bern as of the year 980. We don't get too much backsotry on him, but we know that Desmond was married to his first wife, Hellene of Etruria, as part of an arranged marriage aimed to achieve a political gain. However, he was already in love with a different woman and held no affection for Hellene, and when the marriage eventually yielded a son, Zephiel. Being the reasonable man that he is, Desmond decided to take out all of his resentment on Zephiel and as such constantly reminded Zephiel how dissapointed he was that Zephiel woke up each morning instead of dying in his sleep. As couples teraphy didn't exist back then, Desmond decided to make Hellene and Zephiel live in a different castle than him and in the meantime engaged with the woman he actually loved. Their relationship yielded Guinivere. As the children grew Zephiel became popular with the common people and Desmond was reasonably a bit upset over than. So, he did what any reasonable father would do, he hired a secret assassin organisation to steal the Fire Emblem, which would deny Zephiel's ability to be crowned as the next king of Bern and also decided to commission an assassionation from the Black Fang so they'd make Zephiel un-alive. Both of these plans failed, so logically Desmond did nothing for the next few years. Uhhhhhh, OK. As years passed Zephiel's popularity grew even more and Desmond decided to prevent Zephiel from taking the throne by making it so that the next king of Bern would be Guinivere's future husband. The public didn't take this so well and as Desmond feared the people organising a rebelion, he decided to just kill Zephiel himself. So he held a banquet and gave Zephiel a poisoned drink during it, rendering Zephiel gravely ill and nearly killing him. However, Zephiel was just too angry to die and decided to return the favour by gifting his father a sword to the throat. What I wanted to focus on is the weird plans of Desmond. He first decided to screw over Zephiel by making it so he can't become the next King of Bern. OK, makes sense. But then he also decides to assassinate him. Now, this makes sense as the common people would likely be disatisfyed and request Zephiel to be crowned anyway and Desmond would need to submit or face the risk of a rebellion. But, why didn't he just hire the Black Fang to just kill Zephiel and not need to have them steal the Fire Emblem? Heck, doesn't stealing it make it worse for the Black Fang as because of that Murdoc, Zephiel's bodyguard, would be even more on guard as it has been shown that the castle isn't very secure? Maybe, it was all Sonia's plan and they wanted to have the Fire Emblem for some unspecified reason, so the FE was payment for the assassination of Zephiel. But if that's the case, why not just cut ties with Desmond when you get the FE? It can't be to kill Nino as there should be at least 20 better ways to kill her offa and it can't be to cause chaos in Bern as Desmond is such an idiot that he's bound to cause some kind of major problem in Bern (in fact he does by himself), so it's not necessary to ontinue working for him. But those aren't the major ones. Nope, that's the problems FE6 causes. So, for whatever reason Desmond decides to prevent Zephiel becoming king by making Guinivere's husband the king instead, but the reason why he couldn't just steal the FE and prevent Zeph from becoming king was because the public wouldn't accept that. Did Desmond forget about that or was he just so stupid that he thought that everyone would be OK with Zeph not becoming king? If he though that, why didn't he just steal away the FE and be done with it, he isn't very smart if you haven't noticed. At least him killing Zephiel by himself makes some sense as the time he tried to kill him through the help of professionals they failed. But then I ask: "Did Desond not try to do anything for years?". Like, was Desmond just tolerating Zeph for years, even as his popularity grew and didn't try to kill him or sabotage him in any other way? Or did al of his assassination plans just fail (actually that would be pretty funny). Desmond's plans go this way: Sabotage -> Murder -> Do nothing -> Sabotage -> Murder. This is likely because of the retcons FE7 made. In FE6 we just had Desmond first trying to sabotage Zeph and then trying to kill him, so we could assume that Desmond didn't have the guts to kill Zeph at first, but later became desperate and then tried to finally kill him. However, FE7 buries any such theories as Desmond is shown to always be super murder happy. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed episode #776 of "How FE7 messes up the plot of FE6".
