    Happy 11th Anniversary to Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem!

    Today marks the 11th anniversary of the release of Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem: Heroes of Light and Shadow for the Nintendo DS. The game was released in Japan on July 15th, 2010; as its name suggests, it is a remake of Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem which makes it effectively a sequel to Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. FE12 kept the changes that FE11 made to the original games such as the weapon triangle, reclassing, and forging. However, it made several more additions, including the addition of a Prologue and most notably the introduction of a customizable "My Unit" (by default named Kris) who plays a part in the story. Kris followed in the footsteps of the Tactician from Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade; unlike the Tactician, Kris is an actual unit who can be customized and deployed into battle. Finally, FE12 included a remake of the four maps from BS Fire Emblem: Archanea Saga in addition to adding three DLC maps.

    Unfortunately, FE12 was never officially released outside of Japan. Despite this, the game can still be emulated in English thanks to the hard work of fan translators.
