Any hype for TMS #FE Encore around here? Or aren’t we allowed to talk about it

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 04:45 PM PST

I've gotten pretty hype for it and that includes Fire Emblem reasons... loving that the manager chick seems to have her FE stand be Azura in this one, also liking that there's a new Three Houses costume in the game too so one of the characters looking like Annette with it on.

Game is pretty cool and I know it's not talked about much here but the last section of the game is super Fire Emblem-y in terms of plot, is worth checking out.

Also I know a lot of FE players are also Smash players; would be cool if they gave Chrom his TMS dark Chrom design as a new palette swap in Smash, would love to play as him like that.

Archer Close Counter and Armor Knight Wary Fighter should be standard in the series.

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 02:22 PM PST

We've seen how close counter has massively increased the use of Archer classes and bows in general throughout 3 Houses, and it should be no surprise.

Removing such a glaring weakness means that Archer units can be put in play more often and bows can be used to make more long range attack options without risk.

Looking back, there are no archers in the series that wouldn't enjoy such a great boon. So thanks Takumi, for popularizing this concept.

Knights are the next unit that need a skill standardized in Wary Fighter. This skill heavily compliments the class and helps to make up for their low speed. Now the slightly higher defense stat actually works to the player's benefit when choking key map points and weakening enemies, and the knight can take on high speed units with ease.

Both skills can be innate, but it makes more sense to gain these at level 10 unpromoted across the series. Which units do you think would benefit the most from this change? And going forward, do you think that this should be standardized? Would it help make these unit types more viable (assuming promotion to Great Knight or Bow Knight is available)?

Edit: its been pointed out that Wary Fighter would be better balanced if it was enemy phase only. This way knights would still be hit twice in retaliation if they initiate.

Edit2: its been also pointed out that Snipers should have 2-3 range, and that armors should have infantry movement. These also seem like reasonable improvements.

Byleth x Lysithea seems very popular. Why is that?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 03:02 PM PST

Not trying to cause drama, genuinely curious. I'm a big fan of Lysithea, and I definitely like this pairing. But I see a lot of art and fanfics about these two, and it seems to me that they're one of the more popular Byleth pairings in the fandom. Is this accurate? If so, why? What about this pairing do you like?

Please make the next FE stick to one story line!

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 04:26 PM PST

I'm sure this has been discussed a lot but it really bugs me how poorly executed some of the story beats can be. The world building and character development is as good as it's ever been, but the plot suffers. I feel like I can see the writers trying to juggle all three paths and at the end of the day I think it just doesn't really work, at least not as well as it needs to for it to be a staple of the series. I miss the more straightforward storylines of the older games. I also miss how you could recruit units in battle by making sure they survived, prioritizing building your army by protecting NPCs or playing it safe. I really hope they streamline the story and go back to the basics next time around, just my two cents.
