    Tragic endings are fine

    I often see some tragic endings like: Arran's FE3 & 12 ending, Lysethia's solo ending and Felix and Sylvain's non BL paired ending criticised for being tragic and having unsatisfying endings for characters. Maybe it's just the fact that I don't really get emotional over most media, but I never really minded tragic endings for characters. Heck, my favourite lords before 3H were Sigurd and Hector (also Leif, but for different reasons). I get the idea that if the player managed to keep their units alive they should be rewarded with a happy ending for their character. However, I believe tragic endings can also improve a character.

    Take Arran for example. He is deathly sick and his last wish is to serve under a lord he trust and to die in battle. There isn't any way for him to escape death as he dies regardless of wether he survives through the main game or not. Ultimately he dies, but manages to accomplish his wish, so he supposedly dies happy. It's a great arc for a tragic character and giving him a generic happy ending would weaken him overall.

    Also, this is just my personal preference, but I really like the bad endings if someone close to another character died in Gaiden/Echoes, but that's just me. Anyway, I never really saw anything wrong with a bit of tragedy in the endings of FE games.
