Three Houses story is kinda jank. [Spoilers]

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 12:42 PM PDT

Maybe it's all the recycled maps but I honestly really can't stand Three Houses story. I can only see the same map so many times before I get incredibly critical on everything, and the story is just pretty terrible. Slithers have no reason to exist except to add a totally evil antagonist who was behind everything as a matter of convenience because the writers can't write good character motivations. Byleth's entire existence is a mistake, Edelgard's route is all over the place and is punctuated by Rhea randomly flipping the script and going psycho on you so that you'd have a final boss to fight rather than actually making the Church responsible for half of the things Edelgard accuses them of, which would add some moral grey to the story. I would like the story much more if Edelgard actually had reasons such as Adrestian citizens stuck in foreign nations she doesn't recognise the independence of, and if the church had culpability in Adrestia's problems rather than Rhea being good unless she randomly isn't, and the church route is awful and Rhea never even gets to fight Nemesis.

Dimitri's route is the best mostly because it's the only one that doesn't descend into pure narrative nonsense or end in such a way that doesn't make sense at all, yet Dimitri is my least favourite lord post timeskip.

I kinda wish this game was about medieval politics more than it was about rat people and dragons. I liked the concept of Edelgard and Rhea having an ideological war over the future of Fodlan, whether to preserve a dying order or to expunge it for something new, but sadly I didn't get that.

Do skills have any practical application off the battlefield

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 02:05 PM PDT

Skills have been part of the series for a while, and of course, each skill affects how a unit performs in battle. Whether it be direct like pursuit and adept that make the user double, Charm that can affect the damage dealt/taken or accuracy/avoid of allies, and Luna which can cut through the defenses of an enemy.

But what about when someone isn't fighting? Would any of these skills have practical applications? Like, would a former swordmaster with Astra sign papers 5 times faster? Would someone with luck +4 be more likely to find a spare change on the street or get a secret discount at a store? A question that does not matter in the context of FE as a whole, but one that I find to be amusing.

    Is Shadows of Valentia good?

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 06:15 PM PDT

i picked up fire emblem with PoR(because of misinformed) and really liked the story and characters(lethe, soren, rolf, and ike just to name a few) so I decided to play more and after seeing 3 houses it remined me of p5. i finished VW in 3H and went on to awakening(didn't really like part 2 so i decided to move on, part 1 was really good tho), I liked some of the story but some part were pretty lame imo(chrom in general), now Im mid way through birthright and I can't even stand half the characters and the story feels rushed. anyways Im saying this cause I wanted to play shadows of valentia then radiant dawn but if shadows isn't good I don't want to play it, Is it worth playing?(also is it full of route mission cause im tired of those)
